What a day we had at the Superhero Series powered by Marvel in August! This fully inclusive sports event saw over 5000 people with disabilities participate in the tri challenges either on their own with the help of sidekicks by running, walking or pushing their wheelchairs and walkers, swimming a set distance and cycling around the beautiful Dorney Lake to cheering crowds who provided plenty of vocal support.

Invacare provided a welcome customer engagement area offering hospitality, activities and a number of popular giveaways. As well as showcasing a stunning selection of our products including the Kuschall KSL active wheelchair  along with AVIVA and TDX SP2 powerchairs, and our popular Action 3 Junior chairs which were  suitably themed in Marvel Superhero colours with matching spoke guards from Captain America to Disney Princesses.

Central to our product display was the GB chair designed through our Unique service. It was created in the GB flag colours and made a stunning addition to our display.

We were supported by the very knowledgeable and experienced Chris and Steve from Draft Wheelchairs, who provided a repair service. This collaboration supported participants who required minor adjustments, tyre pumps etc to ensure they could compete.

“It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to be involved with this year’s Superhero Series event. We experienced a day where every day superheroes had the opportunity to really show their power, and it was such an inspiration seeing so many people give it their all to participate and cross the finish line. It’s thanks to the determination of the organisers and the help of all the sponsors that accessible sporting events like this can happen and as part of the 2024 summer of sport - what a day it was!” commented Mel Scrivener, Marketing Services Manager.

On the day, we sponsored a number of ‘superheroes’ who dropped by the Invacare welcome area including Owen, Captain of Team Hulk in the At Home series.  wen loves sports and participates in as many events as possible. And Morgan, a local lad from Bridgend, who competed for the first time in the tri event and absolutely smashed it. Here’s what Morgan had to say:

Our collaboration with Wheelpower team enabled them to participate in the event and raise valuable funds for their forthcoming spinal unit games later this year.  ear what Martin McElhatton, OBE had to say;

It was fantastic see so many people with disabilities participating in an inclusive sports event, and having the support of such a positive, friendly crowd.  We can’t wait for Winter Wonderwheels - want to join us, just get in touch!
