Invacare Back Up Snowdon Challenge 2015On 10th-11th July this year Team-Invacare are again taking part in the 2015 Snowdon Push to raise much needed funds for the Back Up Trust.
The team consists of Invacare UK employees and they will be conquering one of the highest mountains in the UK at over 3,500ft high by walking, climbing, pushing and pulling wheelchair user Josh Davies, in a Küschall® custom built chair to the summit and back, covering a gruelling 8 miles of steep mixed terrain. Josh was also a team member last year and couldn’t wait to sign up again.
Team Invacare finished 3rd out of 11 teams last year in an impressive 4hrs 54minutes and are hoping to improve on that time this year.
The event is a huge challenge so in preparation the team are holding practice walks on Pen-Y-Fan Mountain in the Brecon Beacons. After a couple of cancellations due to torrential rain and gales, the first walk finally took place in April and thankfully the weather was kind to us.
Raising money for the charity
The sole reason the team are taking part in the challenge again is to support the Back Up Trust. Last year we raised nearly £5,000 and hope to beat that total this year but to do that we need everyone’s help.
Back Up is a unique national charity that inspires people to transform their lives and challenges perceptions of disability. Every year, a number of fundraising events take place around the UK to raise both awareness and funds for the charity in order to transform the lives of those who have suffered a spinal cord injury.
